Posters for the Public is Live!

Quick Summary

  • Science Says has debuted Posters for the Public at the Davis Farmers Market! Keep an eye for more posters and presenters in the coming weeks.

After four long years delayed by COVID, we are so excited that our Posters for the Public efforts have debuted at the Davis Farmers Markets! Be sure to look for our posters at the next few Wednesday and Saturday markets to learn about some of the amazing research being done on the UC Davis campus.

So far we’ve heard about childhood memory formation, RNA editing and ADAR (Adenosine deaminases acting on RNAs), finding ways to ‘switch off’ Huntington's Disease, and understand why both Christmas trees and strawberries smell the way they do. When asked about the overall experience, participant Gabby Wyatt of Plant Biology said “Making the poster was really fun and surprisingly challenging. As a scientist I am very immersed in the details of my research, but it is important to step back and remember the broad goals of the work. Posters for the Public allowed me to do this and challenged me in thinking about what my research means for the general public.”

Be on the lookout for these posters and some new ones in the next week or so! On deck we have posters about disease resistance in strawberry, studying acylsugar effect on plant disease, and human motor coordination and learning.
